Newest Tennessee Titans player was nearly perfect last season
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans completed a trade on Friday that sent a seventh-round pick (No. 227) in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Cleveland Browns for offensive tackle Leroy Watson.

Watson worked with Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan in Cleveland. He was also on the practice squad for the San Francisco 49ers while Titans GM Ran Carthon was still the Director of player personnel.

The Titans have a lot of familiarity with Watson, and the Titans fans that are mostly unfamiliar with his game should feel good about Watson’s limited playing time in 2023.

Watson played in seven games in 2023, primarily as a special teamer. He did, however, get significant work on offense in the regular season finale between the Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

Watson played 45 offensive snaps, most of them at left tackle, in Week 18 without a blemish. He did not allow a single sack, pressure, or QB hit. He was not penalized once.

Given Callahan's history with Watson in Cleveland and Carthon's familiarity with him from San Francisco, it goes without saying that the Titans probably see something of value here.

At this point in time, I think most Titans fans have blind faith in Bill Callahan. If Callahan approves, Titans fans approve, and I think there's good reason for that.

I'm intrigued to see what Watson brings in training camp this fall as the Titans look to identify the best options for a rebuilt offensive line.
