Caleb Williams Reveals Who He Wants Bears To Pick At No. 9
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Barring a dramatic turn of events, the Chicago Bears are going to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.

But who will they take at No. 9?

Williams himself has a suggestion.

When asked if he were able to make the selection for the Bears with the ninth overall pick, Williams opted to go with some protection.

“If I was able to choose and I was picked No. 1 [by] the Bears, I would probably go Olu Fashanu because I know he’d put his life on the line for me protecting me,” Williams said, via Yahoo Sports. “And then, geez, I would probably go one of the top three wide receivers — whoever is there at nine.”

Fashanu played offensive tackle at Penn State and is widely regarded as one of the top offensive linemen in this year’s draft class, and with Chicago needing some assistance along that front, it’s very possible that the Bears can go that route at No. 9.

Some also feel that Chicago may end up taking Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze, who is viewed by most as the third-best receiver behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers.

Williams is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 68.6 percent of his passes. He also punched in 11 rushing scores.

The 22-year-old began his collegiate career at Oklahoma in 2021 and spent one season there before transferring to USC in 2022.

During his first year with the Trojans, Williams dazzled, totaling 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns and five picks while completing 66.6 percent of his throws. He also rushed for 382 yards and 10 scores.

We’ll see who the Bears end up taking after Caleb Williams on Thursday evening.
