Magic Johnson Gets Brutally Honest After Los Angeles Lakers Lose Game 2 in Heartbreaking Fashion
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers find their playoff journey at great risk of being cut short after they failed to stop Jamal Murray from making an incredible shot to steal Game 2. The game was such a heartbreaking loss that had LeBron James going on a tirade over calls that would have changed the game’s complexion.

However, the players weren’t the only ones devastated by the loss. Magic Johnson, who was the face of the Showtime Lakers during the 80s, also felt crushed by the defeat of his beloved team that he couldn’t help but share his honest thoughts on what happened during the game.

Magic Johnson reveals his frustration over the Los Angeles Lakers’ bitter defeat to the Denver Nuggets

Basketball fans who follow Magic Johnson know that the former President of Basketball Operations always loved sharing his opinions on the Lakers’ performances on recent games on social media. After Murray hit the game winner, many were looking forward to Johnson’s thoughts about the gut-wrenching defeat.

But to the surprise of many, Johnson didn’t immediately share his thoughts on the game. It took him almost an entire day before he properly internalized what happened and put his feelings into words.

Per The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglou:

“Last night I was so devastated I couldn’t even tweet,” Johnson wrote. “An unbelievable shot by Jamal Murray, and an outstanding comeback by the Nuggets.”

The Lakers did everything they could to bring the series to even footing before returning to Crypto.com Arena. Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and D’Angelo Russell took on most of the scoring load for the Purple and Gold, scoring 32, 26, and 23 points respectively.

However, the clear lack of team depth ultimately cost them the loss. Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves combined for 12 points on 5-for-18 shooting. There was also only minimal help from the bench as Taurean Prince was the only Laker among the reserves to have gotten points.

The climb to the summit has become tougher on the Los Angeles Lakers, and fans like Magic will be frustrated if they fail to defend their home court. The next two games will be vital for the Lakers’ season, and fans hope that their team can turn things around.
