Miami Marlins pitcher Max Meyer will undergo Tommy John surgery after an MRI revealed a torn UCL, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.
Meyer, 23, was the third overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and made his major league debut two weeks ago. After allowing five runs in 5.1 innings in his first start, Meyer threw just 10 pitches on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates before exiting in the first inning.
After his final pitch Saturday, Meyer grimaced and gestured to the dugout.

In 12 starts this season for the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Meyer had a 3.72 ERA with 65 strikeouts and 19 walks.
Meyer is listed by MLB.com as the Marlins' No. 2 prospect, behind only 6-8 Double-A pitcher Eury Pérez. Last season, Meyer participated in the 2021 MLB Futures Game.
