Cincinnati Bearcats WR Alec Pierce out 'a few weeks' with knee injury

The knee injury that sidelined Cincinnati Bearcats junior wide receiver Alec Pierce for last Saturday's season-opening win over Austin Peay will keep him a spectator into October.

Per Adam Rittenberg of ESPN, Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell told reporters on Tuesday that Pierce underwent an arthroscopic procedure on the injured knee and will be out for "a few weeks" before he makes his 2020 debut.

"We don't know exactly how long; they were hoping to go in and not have to do it, but he's probably going to be a few weeks down," Fickell said.

As a sophomore, Pierce led the Bearcats with 652 receiving yards and was second on the team in catches (37). He found the end zone twice and was named to the 2019 AAC All-Academic Team, per the program's website.

No. 14 Cincinnati hosts No. 22 Army this coming Saturday.
